Space to Simply Be
Guest Reflection by Ashley Parker Owens
Nestled in a repurposed brick building that once processed peanuts, the Sound Healing Center of Lexington is anything but ordinary. Ascending to the third-floor space—the only minor challenge to its otherwise perfect setting—I discovered a sanctuary that transcends the typical meditation and sound studio. The massive room, with its wooden floors and expansive layout, breathes tranquility and possibility, creating an immediate sense of sacred potential.
Amy Hudson, the studio's owner and instructor, has crafted an environment that uplifts and calms. Her approach is deeply holistic, nurturing the entire being. From the moment you enter, her compassionate nature is evident. She carefully orients newcomers, explaining everything from the nuanced use of singing bowls to the practical location of restrooms.
The Sound Healing Center reflects Amy's intuitive understanding of individual needs. People can choose from multiple comfort options: laying on the floor, nestling into a hanging swing, or positioning themselves in long, adjustable chairs. A thoughtful array of pillows, blocks, and blankets ensures everyone can find their perfect space of comfort and exploration.
A Personal Journey Through Sound
My journey here was nothing short of miraculous. Over six months, the sessions became more than musical meditation. Without pressure to perform or achieve specific spiritual goals, I found myself organically connecting to deeper emotional landscapes. The music became a language beyond words, helping me somatically process an early trauma in a way traditional therapies never could.
What sets this studio apart is its profound simplicity. There's no forcing of spiritual exercises or demanding specific outcomes. Instead, Amy creates a space of pure acceptance where healing and self-discovery can unfold naturally. The power lies in the ability to simply be—to listen to the music of one's soul without judgment or expectation.
More Than Sound
Through Amy's guidance, I've learned that true music is more than sound—it's a pathway to inner understanding. The Center has become a crucible of change, opening new dimensions of my spiritual journey and connecting me more deeply to my inner self and universal energy.
